Famous first words

I've been using language for an awful long time! Longer than I can remember.

I have no idea what my first words were. Maybe I was told at some point, though I think that even I would have remembered them if that were the case. Has someone told you what your first words were?

I'm sure I didn't say "Beastly", though someone did. Do you know who? He wrote a book with a famous title. The book is famous too because it included the idea of "Big Brother", although many people will know the expression from the television programme where people have to live in a house full of TV cameras. However, "Big Brother" comes from his novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four". His real name was Eric Blair and he began his writing career as a journalist. Do you know the name he became famous with?

Well, the answer is George Orwell. Apparently, he was ill in bed with bronchitis when he said "Beastly". He was only 18 months old at the time and so his mother made a note of the event and he seems to have been rather proud of the fact, as he used the word in all of his books except Animal Farm. I've tried to check this information on different sites and it seems to be true. Perhaps you can find some other FAMOUS FIRST WORDS and put them in the comments - remember to check with several sources to make sure they're not made up.
